〰️The global disposable razor market is worth an estimated $34 billion a year and you guessed it, all those plastic handles and cartridges end up in a landfill.

For me, I was interested in a traditional razor for quite some time but ultimately daunted by the blades. I thought they were something that only belonged in barbershops and your grandad’s bathroom. However, as I continued on my low waste journey, it became the obvious answer to all the cheap disposable razors I’d used for the previous 15 years.

Still, I was hesitant. Would it be tricky to handle? Would I cut myself? Would it move as smoothly as my normal razor?

Despite worrying about the function, all the options I saw were also really chunky and unattractive. I finally found one I liked the look of, sleek and rose gold! I’m all about turning routines into rituals so aesthetics are just as important to me as function. I chose the Leaf razor, it’s $120 including 20 blades which break in half providing 40. You can choose to have 1, 2 or 3 blades so 40 is going to last you a while.

I like the function of this particular razor more than the disposable ones. It has a flexible head, good for curved areas such as underarms and knees etc. Once I used it for the first time I literally laughed at myself for thinking it would be tricky, it was so so easy to use. To put the blades in, you simply twist the screw at back to release it open and pop in the blades in their dedicated spot. This opening also makes it easy to clean out any hair that normally gets caught between blades.

The leaf razor comes in rose gold, silver and black but admittedly it’s so popular it can be hard to get your hands on. The best place to grab one in Aus is from Biome or you can buy direct from the US but shipping is a little slower and I generally try and support Aussie retailers where possible.
