How to: Facial steaming

Achieve a glowing, dewy complexion

A calming weekly ritual for you and your skin.

〰️ Facial steaming is a new ritual I’m in love with especially when my cycle brings with it some hormonal breakouts.

Facial steams encourage your pores to blossom open and your skin to be cleansed and nourished. They are incredibly simple and you can often make your own with tea or herbs you may have in your pantry.

  1. Select your herbs/flowers of choice. I’m currently obsessed with a blend of clove, orange peel skin and calendula from Shikoba Therapies. I also love the calming duo of lavender and chamomile.

  2. Place in a large bowl and cover with boiling water.

  3. Allow to cool a little then place your head over the bowl, about 15cm away from the water. Cover your head with a towel to trap in the steam.

  4. Relax for 5-15 minutes.

  5. Continue with your normal skincare routine. At a minimum use a face oil or moisturiser.

How often should I facial steam?

It depends on your skin. For me, I like to steam once a week or every other week.
